The New Designer of 2011

On Wednesday 6th July I attended the New Designers 2011 exhibition at the Business Design Center in Angel Islington. The exhibition  is on until the 9th July 2011. The exhibit contains designs from 3,500 students who have recently graduated from university.

I attended the preview night which included an award show for promising designs and free alcohol. The atmosphere was friendly and the Ex-Students were buzzing with excitement as visitors walked around each design viewing the unique qualities of each design. The designs are modern and eco-friendly pushing the envelope on how designers make use of the materials they use.

One of the standout exhibits came from 22 year old Hannah Griffiths a furniture and product designer from Buckinghamshire New University.  Hannah designed the ‘Three Sixty Desk’, ‘Blond & Brunette Stool’ and a fantastic study chair ( See Below). Hannah Griffiths is part of the new wave of British designers who are breaking out of the standardized formats of past designers.
