Beyonce – Standing On The Sun (Review)

Standing On The Sun

Standing On The Sun

‘Standing On The Sun’ is reminiscent of Beyonce’s 2003 hit ‘Baby Boy’ but with a more slick, sexier and mature vibe. This track is featured in the television advertisements for Beyonce’s new fashion line at H&M. I don’t care too much for her clothes but I do like the instrumental which contains elements of bashment, calypso and trance music.

Standing On The Sun

The lyrics of the song are not very important to be honest although they were written by the amazing Australian singer/songwriter ‘Sia’ its more the emotional roller coaster of the journey that Beyonce’s voice takes you on. Let’s face it Beyonce can sing about anything with meaning and power so its all about her vocals on this track.

Beyonce as ‘Mrs Carter’

Beyonce’s vocals showcase a modern and youthful side of her vocal range with her classic powerful belts thrown in just to remind you who she is. I feel like Beyonce has been influenced by Rihanna’s lazy style of singing mixed with her fluctuating tones which provide audiences with a karaoke sing-a-long hype. Although Beyonce may sound like she is copying Riri’s flow she is in her own lane with her harmonies especially the catchy hook “Feel the burning flame”¬†which is sexy soft and addictive to listen to.

Standing On The Sun

There is no official release date for this track or Beyonce’s new untitled album but if the other songs are on this vibe she might be on yet another winner with her new material. I prefer the Beyonce’s soulful vocals more than her pop material ¬†even though ‘Standing On The Sun’ is a borderline mainstream track it will make you want to sing and dance along with Beyonce and dream of being in the Bahamas where her fashion promo was filmed. This track is a guaranteed floor filler.
